Among ancient ways, hamlets and castles
In the San Gimignano countryside, among the most beautiful and most visited in Tuscany, there are pathways which connect the castle with the villages founded outside the city walls. We’ll walk along some parts of the Via Francigena and the Via del Sale (Salt Road) where they actually intertwine and we’ll go through what are now small, pleasant villages but were once castles involved in bloody battles between San Gimignano and Volterra. A territory which can speak, and tell of its peasant tradition and how, thanks to illuminated people, the countryside was made productive and less hostile for those who lived and worked there. We won’t miss out on wonderful views on the most famous towers in the world!
