The Montenero Reserve and the Falls of the Strolla Torrent
In the countryside of Volterra there’s a special place which will enchant us for its historic-naturalistic characteristics. I’ll take you into the Montenero Reserve which among its oak woods hides the ruins of the medieval Nera Castle and the miraculous milk fountain. This territory has been crossed since far off times by wanderers and pilgrims who were travelling on the Salt Way, which from Volterra led to San Gimignano. We’ll walk on lava rocks sculpted by the Strolla torrent and depending on the time of the year we’ll be able to refresh ourselves among the waterfalls surrounded only by nature. To finish off we’ll look over the Devil’s Boulder where we can enjoy a unique panorama over the surrounding rolling hills.
