The imposing “Old Mill” and the hills of the Pesa Valley
With this excursion we’ll be plunging into the beauty of the Val di Pesa! We’ll walk along the Pesa river accompanied by the relaxing sound of the flowing water discovering the vegetation and the wildlife which populate this environment. We’ll then climb up the Chianti hills, among vineyards, farms and ancient villas to reach an ancient and imposing jewel hidden in the woods: the ruins of the Mulinaccio. A unique example of industrial archaeology which tells of noble families who remodelled the landscape for their own enjoyment and economic gains, but also of old trades and traditions today unfortunately almost completely lost. We’ll then reach a lovely farm, rising out of the summit of a panoramic hill, which during the first World War was a refuge for the local population and theatre of a sanguinary battle, today a greatness in the production of wine, oil and typical products, all exclusively organic.
